About EXIT The Magic of Christmas 2026
Kosmos's EXIT advent calendar for 2026, The Magic of Christmas (Der Zauber von Weihnachten in Germany), is an escape game told across 24 doors rather than a box of 24 gifts. The story opens on a winter hike: a bang, everything goes black, and you wake in an enchanted forest with green fur on your hands.
Behind each door is one riddle, and its answer names the room the next day's door opens onto, so the calendar is played in order and finished on Christmas Eve. Inka, Markus and Emely Brand wrote it, at the series' beginner level, for one player or one team of any size from age 10, at ten to fifteen minutes a day.
The doors hold riddle cards, odd cut-out parts and sealed extra material; beside the calendar are a story book, a help book with the instructions and staged hints, and a decoder table where a solved code is entered. Nothing behind a door is a present, which is the point: it is a calendar two people sit down to together, not one to open on the way out.
Solving it means writing on and cutting some of the material, and Thames & Kosmos publishes a refill guide for resetting the box for a second run. It is the sixth EXIT calendar, after The Intergalactic Race (2025), The Missing Hollywood Star (2024), The Silent Storm (2023), The Hunt for the Golden Book and The Mystery of the Ice Cave.
24.99 EUR from Kosmos's own shop in Germany, 39.99 GBP from Thames & Kosmos UK and 49.95 USD from Thames & Kosmos in the US, all in stock when checked.

Not itemised: the 24 doors are riddles, and Kosmos keeps them secret by design. What it states is the fixed material — riddle cards and odd parts behind the doors, a story book, a help book with the game instructions, and a decoder table.
EXIT The Magic of Christmas 2026 by the numbers
How each one is countedEvery figure is computed from the record at build time and set against the median of the same season and the same kind of contents. Door price is the price on the box over its doors; the value multiple is what the contents come to at retail over that price; full size is the retailer’s own marking. Where the record cannot support a figure, the page leaves it out rather than guessing. The definitions, one by one →Each figure against the median of this season's toys shelf — 75 calendars. Green is the better side of the median, red the worse; the median is printed so you can disagree.

Our EXIT The Magic of Christmas 2026 review
Our verdict
A 24-night escape story for one table rather than 24 things to unwrap, and the help book means a stuck evening is a hint away, not a ruined one. Beginner-rated, so a couple who has done the earlier EXIT calendars will get through the doors faster than the ten minutes promised.
Reviewed by Max Zeshut · 2026 season · How we review
What works
- One story across all 24 doors, solved in order
- Ten to fifteen minutes a night, for one player or a whole table
- A help book with staged hints, so nobody gets stuck for good
What does not
- Nothing behind a door is a gift
- Beginner level, so seasoned EXIT players may find it easy
- Material is written on and cut, so a second run needs the refill guide
