About EXIT The Magic of Christmas 2026
Kosmos's EXIT advent calendar for 2026, The Magic of Christmas (Der Zauber von Weihnachten in Germany), is an escape game told across 24 doors rather than a box of 24 gifts. The story opens on a winter hike: a bang, everything goes black, and you wake in an enchanted forest with green fur on your hands.
Behind each door is one riddle, and its answer names the room the next day's door opens onto, so the calendar is played in order and finished on Christmas Eve. Inka, Markus and Emely Brand wrote it, at the series' beginner level, for one player or one team of any size from age 10, at ten to fifteen minutes a day.
The doors hold riddle cards, odd cut-out parts and sealed extra material; beside the calendar are a story book, a help book with the instructions and staged hints, and a decoder table where a solved code is entered. Nothing behind a door is a present, which is the point: it is a calendar two people sit down to together, not one to open on the way out.
Solving it means writing on and cutting some of the material, and Thames & Kosmos publishes a refill guide for resetting the box for a second run. It is the sixth EXIT calendar, after The Intergalactic Race (2025), The Missing Hollywood Star (2024), The Silent Storm (2023), The Hunt for the Golden Book and The Mystery of the Ice Cave.

Our verdict
A 24-night escape story for one table rather than 24 things to unwrap, and the help book means a stuck evening is a hint away, not a ruined one. Beginner-rated, so a couple who has done the earlier EXIT calendars will get through the doors faster than the ten minutes promised.
