A door costs about $5.54 at the median, and sixty of the eighty-eight print their lists: the highest share of any band, because this is where the retailers who buy at trade and price to sell out live. Buy a retailer box here as an introduction to twenty brands; the single-brand boxes in the same band (Elemis, Clarins, Liz Earle, L'Occitane) clear less and are bought for the name.
Step 01
Decide what you will spend first
Set the number before you browse, because it decides the shelf more than anything else here. Of the 121 priced in dollars, 121 sit between $50 and $200 — the range runs $50 to $200, and half are above $100. Compare the price bands →
Step 02
Match the doors to the days
235 of the 350 here have 24 doors — a 24-door box opens one a day from 1 December to Christmas Eve. The others run 4, 7, 10, 12, 16, 25, 30 and 31, and the shorter ones start partway through the month: a 12-door box opens on 13 December. For someone who will not open one every day, or a gift that will arrive late, fewer doors is the better fit, not the lesser calendar. Every start date →
Step 03
Know which season you are buying
211 of the 350 here are 2026 editions, and 58 are last season's — still sold, often discounted, and with the contents already on the page. The 81 older than that are listed for the record, not for buying. A brand's page keeps every edition together, so check whether the box you are looking at is this year's before you compare prices.
Step 04
Check what is inside against the price
Every calendar page that we have costed shows what the contents come to against the sticker price. We have done that for 160 of the 350 here: the median box holds 2.6× its own price in product, the spread runs 1.0× to 10.5×, and every one of them comes to more than it costs. Below 1.0× you are paying for the box; none here does that.
Step 05
Start from the ones we have opened
52 of the 350 here carry an editors' pick — the chip above the grid narrows the shelf to those — and 267 have a written score. Those are the boxes somebody on this site has actually judged. The rest are listed because they exist, not because we are recommending them; being on this page is not a verdict. How we review →
