What you know in advance is the dividing line. The whisky calendars keep their drams secret by design, so you buy on the bottler's record and the strength (Boutique-y runs at 48.5% overall, Drinks by the Dram's Premium at 46.9%) while Virgin prints the full list, Malbec to Fetească Neagră. Per door the spread is wide: 4 GBP a dram at Master of Malt, 8 at the Premium, 4.17 a bottle at Virgin, and just under 6.50 USD a glass at In Good Taste.

Two things this shelf lacks are worth knowing: nobody prints a valuation, so there is no value multiple here, and the count is thin against the demand; the wine and gin choice is one or two boxes each. The shortlist in the grid names one for a whisky drinker, a wine drinker and a beer drinker; the cuts under the men's and women's pages narrow it by who it is for.
